From the sea of public opinion
A voice suggested, Yes we can...
A strange whisper of hope
Fell on skeptical ears
But soon travelled throughout all the land

A call for change stirred the hearts of the people
A sleeping monster began to awake
"This country was great once before", they all thought
We can do it again for God's sake!

So they rolled up their sleeves
And they took to the streets
This is OUR time!
Let's ignite the flame!
With hope in our hearts, and a song on our lips
There would be none but ourselves to be blamed

On a day like no other
A moment in history
We watched our future unfold
And then like a breeze
Uncovers a mystery
We knew what tomorrow would hold

Red states turned blue
The numbers rolled in
Neo-cons were left in the dust
Racism erased
At the very least weakened
Yes we can, yes we will, yes we must!

The movement for change
Remains realistic
We've been through to much to be fooled
But recent events make us all patriotic
A nation by it's citizens ruled
